What is WAGIN?
Due to varied topography throughout the State, Maryland was presented with numerous interoperability challenges.These challenges included:
- Limited interoperability capabilities;
- System coverage limitations;
- Lack of statewide common frequency band; and,
- Underutilized mutual aid channels.
Therefore, regional interoperability networks were created, which included WAGIN.
The Washington Allegany Garrett Interoperability Network, WAGIN, is an IPICS (Internet Protocol Interoperability and Collaboration System) solution for Western Maryland.
